Tangram

Daniele Lago's Tangram is the ultimate in interactive shelving. Tangram is a shelfing system that consists of a sqaure split up into 7 different shapes. Some of the suggested configurations are amazing !

Dosh Darnit !

Chaeck out my post on the Dosh wallet over at 2modern.

Easy Hang

These pendant lampshades are awesome ! Every light in my house is a hanging pendant light and it takes a ladder, a screwdriver and face mask to remove the current shades.

Might need to invest in some of these cool looking and practical light shades.

Doughnuts... is there anything they can't do

A lot of crazy Simpsons stuff is coming out of the wood works with the release of the Simpsons movie. As a Simpsons fanatic, I love it. My collections of Simpsons knick-knacks is going through the roof. Just stumbled upon this and it might take the "cake."
You can grab it here.

The Art of Sha-Do Boxing

The Sha-do light is all about projecting cool shadows on your interiors. The Sha-do light has 15 different adjustable patterns to choose from that can be cast up to 3meters ( aprox. 10').

I think it's a great way to add another dimension to you lighting solutions.via designspotter

SketchPet

I used to always keep a folded sheet of paper in my back pocket for note taking when I got ideas or saw stuff that I would like to research at later time. That eventually graduated into a thicker, clunckier sketchpad which I wouldn't always have on me because it didn't easily slip into my back pocket. But now thanks to the folks at Maginwulf Studios, I will be investing in the new SketchPet.

The Sketchpet is a 150 page notebook that can easily fit on a key-ring or in the old faithful back pocket. So no more cluncky sketchpads and no more folded up sheets of paper that always find there way into the washing machine.via yanko

Breathe it out !

Wow ! That's a good looking poster with an awesome concept.
Copy: Forests are the lungs of the earth. The destruction of forests has been a fortifying factor in climate change. With millions of miles of old growth forests cleared every year, the earth is slowly suffocating under the increase of greenhouse gases'.

Show you my O-Ring Face

This week Mocoloco posted about the one of the watches from the S+arck collection with Fossil.

Being a Fossil employee I thought I'd comment.

The S+arck Veil watch is pretty cool... but my favorite one is the O-Ring Digi in White ( the black one is not as cool)

It has all the things you want in a watch:
1. Cool digi display - with hours displayed as numbers and minutes as segments
2. designed by S+arck
3. Look of a doughnut
4. and reasonably priced

Check out the entire collection here... and sorry I can't give you one of those promos like mention my name and receive 20% off.

Crunchy edges...

Things have been crazy at the 9to5 so I haven't had much time to post. Plus, I'm too cold to be productive... stupid record low cold spell !

I always though I was weird cause I liked the crunchy, overcooked parts of brownies. mmmm....crunchy

But I guess not.

Soapy Hooks

We've all seen soap-on-a-rope... a very practical solution for hands free soapage in the great outdoors. Now bring that same sentiment indoors without making it look like a prison yard.... I present you Soap Hooks. These are vintage French soap dispensers that are aewsome for bathroom and kitchen sink areas.

I might have to invest in this because bars of soap always mysteriously disappear in my house... damn soap gnomes.

The packaging is pretty sweet as well.
You can grab them through AT

S-Unit (cont'd)

This design makes so much sense that it almost doesn't make sense ?!

What a great idea. You can fold down as many slats as you need and the rest stay up against the wall. The folded up slats can double as book ends and or just look good in all their cherry glaze finish.from materialicious

Sh-sh-shelf Uuunit

I'm still trying to design a closet/shelf unit for my room/studio. But everytime I sit down and come up with something I feel like other designers have made better and cooler ones...

Type Tastes Good

This motion graphics sequence is awesome and fitting after the Arial vs Helveitca post ! Brilliantly executed. I love the 1950s style voice over ... the entire thing makes me feel all farm and fuzzy on the inside !

Topless

I've kept an old school plastic bottle cap opener on my key chain ever since I can remember. It might be time to let go of that little thing and move on to this ! Not only does it seem ergonomic but it can help you with stubborn twist offs as well. My only point of criticism is in the unclever title.. bottle opener by Piet Hein...come on ! I think they could of done a little better than that, but it's still a bad-ass design.

Arial v. Helvetica

Consider yourself a design geek? We'll see about that. Thanks to the kids over at How About Orange you can take the ultimate typography quiz. This will definitely let you know where you stand. I took it and got 8 out 10 correct, not sure if I should be proud of that or not ?

Zip it up and zip it out...

Sorry for the big gap in posts... I have been swamped at the 9to5.

These cool new pieces of storage furniture give us a sweet little twist to normal treatments for opening joints. Unlike the boring straight joints, Herme Ciscar and Monica Garcia's Zip furniture have created finger joints to give the effect of zipper teeth. Subtle, cool and functional... just the way I like my stuff. They have some really cool other designs that are way outside the box.. check them out here.

Gleaming the Kewb

This has to be THE coolest thing I've seen in a long time. The kewb is so practical and funtional that it seems too good to be true. I just wish I had this when I first moved to Sydney ! 3 of these and you can practially furnish an entire studio apartment.

This might get the SG design of the year award (I just made up that award .. but that's how kick-ass this thing is)

Make sure you check out the amazing animated instructions for the assembly options.

Shimmer

I never really appreciated the beauty or design qualities of Perspex until the first semester of my Masters degree. That is the first time I ever worked with the stuff and since then use it as much as possible. Everything looks better in perspex, and it's a lot easier and cheaper to work with than glass but gives a similar effect in the final product.

Timothy Ben Furniture makes an amazing pendant light that uses the same beauty and design qualities that I love in Perspex.

Behold the Shimmer...
Shimmer is available in custom sizes along with a choice of 10 frosted colors, of which you can create a gradient effect or use just one color.

Ecko-motion

I probably shouldn't be praising my employers competition.... but I can only hope my employer allows me to create a motion graphics sequence as sweet as this ! The product isn't anyhting to write home about, but the concept and execution of the sequence is bad-ass.

Check it.

Suckity suck suck !

The 2012 London Olympics logo has just been unveiled... and it is nauseatingly bad. I know I usually only talk about things I like on here, but this thing is so bad it's needs a mention.

I hope this is just a really bad joke.... and soon there will be articles that will say "2012 London Olympics Logo Hoax: how an entire industry was fooled by the unveiling of a fake and hideous logo."from 30gms

Mix & Match This !

Every now and then I come across a design solution that has been done so kick-ya-in-the-ass good that it results in me having good design convulsions. The first stage of this includes me sweating and drooling uncontrollably due to pure amazement and the second stage is me repeatedly kicking my self in the bathing suit area because I am not apart of the conception/creation of this design....

I present to you the Mix and Match Table by Nodesign.

Street Justice

One of my favorite past times is going graffiti hunting in all the cities I visit. Some of the best grafitti I've seen has been in Prague and Melbourne. The only problem is I can't ever coomunicate with the artists to let them know how I feel about their work, whether good or bad, because I'm not a part of the mysterious graff sub-culture. But now I can ! Design Crack has come up with a "Graffiti Report Card" that can be downloaded, filled out and stuck next to any piece you feel needs a comment. It has a 3 point rating system for creativity, skillz, daring and overall. It also has a section for comments and artist information. Pretty cool idea, and I've already downloaded a bunch for my next walk through Syndey's streets...just in case I come across any street art I might like to critique.from core77

Tetris Vase

Ceramic vase tetris ! They might not be marketing Angelo Mangiarotti's Tremiti vases that way because it was designed(1965) before the days of Tetris (1984), but that's the first thing that popped into my 80's pop-culture infested head. I'm sorry if I'm taking away from the genius behind this amazing design by calling it that... but I love it. A new modular way to display your fauna/fruit or maybe your Skittles, either way it's bad ass....you can get your set at bltd.
